“All God’s Critters”

All God’s critters got a place in the choir
Some sing low, some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
And some just clap their hands, or paws or anything they got now

Listen to the bass, it’s the one on the bottom
Where the bullfrog croaks and the hippopotamus
Moans and groans with a big to do
And old cow just goes ‘moo’

The dogs and the cats they take up the middle
While the honeybee hums and the crickets fiddle
The donkey brays and the pony neighs
And the old coyote howls

CHORUS

Listen to the top where the little bird sings
The melody with the high voice ringing
The hoot owl hollers over everything
And the jaybird disagrees

Singing in the nighttime, singing in the day
The little duck quacks and he’s on his way
The ‘possum ain’t got much to say
And the porcupine talks to himself

It’s a simple song of livin’ sung everywhere
By the ox and the fox and grizzly bear
The grumpy alligator and the hawk above

“My God Lay There”

It was on a cold, December day…the couple slowly made their way
to Bethlehem where they would have a son;
a tiny infant born to give His life so that the world would live;
and at His birth our freedom had begun.

Refrain: For in that baby lay the world’s salvation.
Fulfillment of the Promise in a stable cold and bare.
He came a shiv’ring Infant on a starry, starry night.
And while the world lay sleeping unaware
My God lay there.

Animals had gathered ’round and shepherds knelt upon the ground
where Jesus slept upon His bed of hay.
They came to praise Him as their King,
to kneel before Him and to bring Him gifts and honor in their simple way.

Three wise men traveled far…led on by a wondrous star
which shown down on the place where Jesus lay.
